nice looking car, great video 👌🏼I do own the latest vw polo, and believe that in vw they preferred to save space espaxially for back passenger on the polo, and keep the A1 smaller but lower and sportier.

So not ideal if you have a 6'2" driver and rear passenger! great review!

Thanks for interesting review. I've had the same model as you're driving for a month now, and think it's great! I agree entirely about the steering assist being a bit hit-and-miss. I find I can keep passengers alert, and have some fun, by switching it on and waiting for their reactions as the car heads straight towards the central reservation or hard shoulder on a bend, only to correct a little too late for comfort. The steering assist and intelligent cruise at low speeds, in start-stop traffic, works a lot better. I do really really like the quiet, smooth ride, which has absolutely none of the jerkiness of traditional automatics. The entertainment/info system is great, though I use Google for directions (via wireless CarPlay) as the built-in TomTom system tends to send me up one-way streets the wrong way. Petrol consumption is very good, averaging around 60m/g in and around towns, but on shorter trips often up to 80m/g. I drive on B most of the time for a little regenerative braking, which means I don't need to move my foot onto the brake so often. On short city trips I may use eBrake, which is effectively a one-pedal mode, and really helps keep battery level up, but is too aggressive at braking for more flowing roads. On motorway trips, driving Eco and on D, it's around 50m/g, which still isn't bad. I have steering set to Sports all the time, even when I'm in Eco driving mode, which provides a nicely responsive feel. In Sports driving mode, it has a surprising and reassuring kick. Agree seats aren't top for comfort, but I like firmness. All the trim specs - heated seats, steering wheel, windscreen, 360 camera, etc - are brilliant. Overall, I think I'm rather more enthusiastic than you are, but perhaps because I'm precisely looking for a do-it-all car and am not looking for any standout performance or comfort features.

I had a test drive, and it's the worst car I have driven I had 30 minutes to test but I returned in 2 minutes . It was bumpy drive and the seat has no padding and founded unsafe to drive .

Im not 100% convinced by the proportions, although as inflated small car designs go, it’s much better than the Fiat 500 XL, which I still think is one of the worst styled vehicles of modern times.

Nice, accurate review. One of the better ones that I’ve seen of the 3rd gen Countryman and I’ve watched about 100, even in French! You are about the only reviewer that does the background research, e.g., they nearly all assume it’s leather seats and steering wheel wrap and have probably never heard of the MINI (BMW) Vescin label. The shifter paddles are, unfortunately, only available in the top JCW trim. I believe that’s worldwide. The Countryman S here in the US has a few more horses (241) than UK and EU and a bit more torque (295) that would certainly benefit from paddles which are not an option. i have the Countryman S with the bigger engine (I do live in the US, after all 😊) - exact same exterior and interior, except I have the Dark Petrol Blue seats. I love it! It’s so nice to drive. Despite the bigger size, it still retains MINI fun and quirkiness. I am so over comments saying “It’s not a MINI any more”! I doubt if any of the haters have even seen the new model, never mind been in one. MINI is a brand now, not a size, and people want more space and safety features which were sadly lacking until the newest models. The 2024 models (2nd gen Countryman) did not even have blindspot monitoring. Thanks for a well researched review!

Even though they say it's not quite a Sportscar, I looked up the handling skidpad g number and it's .96 g's! That's like as good or better than a C6 corvette! So the car isn't just good in a straight line but it also totally handles like a sportscar. That is an incredible number for a midsized sedan!

DSG is smooth on shifts and in town? DSG of every TT mk3 is always jerky at low speeds (usually when you are parking). Try to parallel park without it lurching on you. I dare you :D

the rest of the world would love this car but why it's only available in 4 right hand drive countries and 9 left hand drive countries. 1.0L with turbo petrol engine with manual or automatic option nothing is more valuable with that package

Really nice car, I've driven it recently and haptic buttons on wheel are kind of annoying and it needs to get used to but they will change to Skoda Enyaq's in 2025
